The Unfairness Doctrine

"It's not fair!" Annabelle screamed and ran crying into her room--
Her parents were shocked by her reaction-- "What should we do?"
"Let her calm down, then we can explain why we decided what we did--
"Being open and honest with her is better than keeping it hid..."

We asked her to start helping around the house with chores--
Nothing major--just some cleaning around her room and the floors--
But, in Annabelle's childish mind she compares herself to friends:
"They don't have any chores to do!" she claims and defends--

Smiling, we pulled out The List and started calling other parents
"Something interesting is happening here--it doesn't make sense!
"Every parent we talked to has chores for their daughters, too!
"Annabelle: You have some serious explaining to do--"

Wiping her eyes, Annabelle emerges from her room still crying--
"Please forgive me mom, and dad... for letting you down...

"...and lying..." .
