The Secret Drawer

When I was just a little boy
My momma tried to tell me
She took me to church every week
But I was spiritually blind I didn't see
Here I sit at momma's funeral
I remember what she always said
"Son, if you wanna make it into heaven
You must be born again."
Then I recalled she had a secret drawer
How I remembered that? it must have been the Lord
After the funeral I went to her home
In her bedside table I found a simple note
"Son, I'm dyin' I really know that now
I'm prayin' that you'll find this note
Here is my Bible please take it and read
I'm prayin' Son that you'll finally see your
need."
I picked up that old Bible outta momma's
secret drawer
O Momma! O Momma! grieving I fell to the floor
I wept for what seemed like hours and hours
Blinking away the tears I read about "all power"
I closed the Bible and asked God to help me
see
Just then there was a knock at the door
I jumped up and closed momma's secret drawer
I went downstairs and opened the door
Two of momma's friends from church were there
They said, "Son we believe the Lord sent us here.
We were drivin' home after the funeral
And suddenly we began to pray more and more..."
"O Momma! O God! Thank You...Thank
You!" I fell to my knees
Those precious ladies prayed right there for me
I received God's gift of the Holy Ghost!
Until that moment I didn't realize how unhappy I was
Rejoicing together we went to church that day
I was baptized in Jesus' Name
Why? it's for the remission of sins
I say, why not? Everybody wins!
Thank You Jesus for Momma
Thank You Lord for her friends
You are The Way I see that now
Thank You Jesus for being my Friend
