The Lie of the Snake

The Lie of the snake starts with,
"You can handle it...just try one"
Then, "You can handle it, have a few more, just for 'fun'"
Sure...it begins that way only every once in awhile
Then every weekend, then almost every day,
then you neglect your
life, your child
Head spinning sickness grips your
body and your soul
This thing that started so innocently has taken control
Is there any way out? The mirror shows the awful details
Breakdown:
the spinning stops as you throw
yourself
on the mercy of the One Who never fails
Sobbing, crying for God's mercy
and forgiveness
"If you love even me, could you forgive me for all this mess?"
Then:
after you pour yourself out,
repenting for all you've done
Jesus reaches to you and forgives every sin: yes, every one!
Don't believe The Lie that you can pick up
and handle a snake
Don't placate it: snakes are meant to
be crushed before they take
