The Ladder Days

Father please forgive me, forgive me
I've been blinded by selfishness and greed
I bow down now before You, O Lord
I repent and promise to do those things no more, no more

Walking through my life doing my own thing
I lived in a world filled with me:  vain imagining
I used others around me climb up my career ladder
The further I got my selfishness became fatter

Father please forgive me, forgive me
I've been blinded by selfishness and greed
I bow down now before You, O Lord
I repent and promise to do those things no more, no more

The ladder days are behind me now, buried in baptism
I see it so clearly now:  selfishness is the greatest sin
It tries to creep back into my life to destroy it again
But the Holy Ghost inside me leads me away from that sin

Father please forgive me, forgive me
I've been blinded by selfishness and greed
I bow down now before You, O Lord
I repent and promise to do those things no more, no more

While selfishness is the greatest sin:
a self-constructed cave to indulge and hide in
Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.
