The Broken Down Bus Blues

I've got those broken down bus blues
Got nowhere to go... got nothin to do
The bus driver's doin his best to keep our spirits high
But we're gettin sadder and madder as each minute goes by

We took the all-day tour on the sight-seein bus
It seemed like a good idea to "leave the driving to us"
We were havin a good laughin time until about half way through
Our bus driver stopped and shut off the bus
An when he tried to start it back up
The battery was deader than a doornail
he yelled "It won't start up -- shoot!"

I've got those broken down bus blues
Got nowhere to go... got nothin to do
The bus driver's doin his best to keep our spirits high
But we're gettin sadder and madder as each minute goes by

Never again I hear a bunch of folks say
Why would a bus break down?  this is so lame
Grumbling, complaining spreads like fire in the dry woods
Negative agreement is as strong as unity for good

I've got those broken down bus blues
Got nowhere to go... got nothin to do
The bus driver's doin his best to keep our spirits high
But we're gettin sadder and madder as each minute goes by

But why waste the time gettin so sad and gettin so mad?
Let's make the best of a bad circumstance:
we'll do somethin good with what we have!
