The Christmas Shopping Date

I was just a little boy when my mom took me on a downtown shopping date--
Outside, I blinked my eyes as big fresh snowflakes fell on my face...
It was Christmas-time with real trees and big lights flashing;
Wonderful decorations filled the store windows and the streets!
It was an amazing adventure--just to have my mom all to myself--
I was determined to be a good boy that day, just like Santa said...
There was one store I really looked forward to being at that night:
It had a train to ride in that was hung from the ceiling up high!
My mom was so nice, she let me ride in it not just once, but twice!
It was the best Christmas ever--such joy, such love, such peace...
I hugged my mom and thanked her for such a special time with her--
As I wished and hoped that night would last forever, and ever!
Finally as we rode the city bus home, I
fell asleep in my mom's lap,
She just smiled at my rosy little cheeks,
just happy I was glad
