Saved from the flames

Lightning struck the dry wood in the forest that night
Wind fanned the flames up the mountain to a record height
Soon the forest firefighters were battling on the scene
I was with them out there living on a prayer and caffeine

The heat was so intense it forced me several times to retreat
The smoke was so bad and I tripped because I couldn't see
My mouth instantly went dry--my lips chapped--and they hurt
I found myself praying because this was like hell on earth

Waves of flames swept through the woods like a fiery tsunami
I was too tired to run any further and I fell and it swept over me
Immediately I knelt and covered my face and cried, "Jesus, Jesus!"
Then you probably won't believe what happened to me next

Somehow, some Way God protected me in the midst of that fire
Trees fell all around me and over me but I was spared from scars
The wind suddenly shifted and the sound in the trees changed
Unbelievably the weather changed to drenching, pouring rain

I looked up and I just started laughing and praising and worshipping God
When the flames died I stood up and danced--I forgot how tired I was!

Saved from the Flames.
