My Daddy's Shirt

I'm just a little boy and one day I watched my daddy leave for work...
I wanted to grow up fast and be like him, so I put on my daddy's shirt!
I started acting like my daddy and that made my mommy laugh, and cry...
So I asked my mommy, "Mommy why do you have tears in your eyes?"

I love my daddy so much, I want to be just like him,
He reaches down to me and I reach back up to him...
I want to be like him some day and go to work,
So I just put on my daddy's shirt, my daddy's shirt...

Now I'm just a man and one day I watched my little boy leave for school...
I remembered something right at that moment:  "The Golden Rule"
So I started acting like my heavenly Father and treating others right,
Because every person on this earth is precious in His sight...

I love my Daddy so much, I want to be just like Him,
He reaches down to me and I reach back up to Him...
I want to be like Him some day so I go to work,
So I just put on my Daddy's shirt, my Daddy's shirt...

I want to be more and more like my Daddy in every way...
My goal is to be a blessing to someone every day!

I love my Daddy so much, I want to be just like Him,
He reaches down to me and I reach back up to Him...
I want to be like Him some day so I go to work,
So I just put on my Daddy's shirt, my Daddy's shirt...
...my Daddy's shirt, my Daddy's shirt...

Put on the garment of praise!

Isaiah 61:3
[3] To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning,
the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness,
the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
