Memories of
Twiney

Memories...of when we first met
our tiny orange cat Twiney;
...of a tiny kitty trapped way up on a branch in an oak tree;
...of wondering why our neighbors moved and abandoned her;
...of how she decided to walk into our apartment and stay there
Memories...of Marsha calling to Twiney in the
midst of storms:
Twi-ney, come by Momma! Twiney! Twi-ney!
Memories...of naming her after
the old twine ball she carried in her mouth--
...of being worried about how she would react to Spencer, our new dog:
...of when they first met in the hallway they liked each other!
...of seeing that it helped that they were both the same color
Memories...of all the nicknames
we gave Twiney over the years
... of Teeny little tiny little Twiney cat,
Pretty little kitty,
Teeny tiny little Twiney,
Mini little Mona,
Mini little motor cat,
Mowzer/Mouser,
Moda,
Shiney!
Chiney!
Orange, and
The Flying Tawanda!
Memories...of the crazy little kitty chasing a
foam ball into the basement--
...of how she would run down there and bring it back up and drop it!
"Chase-Ball, Kitty--We can do a chase ball!"
Meeeeeeowwwww!
Memories...of being amazed at
how well Twiney understood English--
...of how she would "talk" back to us, and she would insist!
"What's your name? What's your name, little girl!?"
Meeeeeeowwwww!
"Twiney!?! Oh, that's your name?!?"
Meeeeeeowwwww!
"Twiney, do
want some milk?"
Murrrrrelllllll
"Oh, you want some murrell?"
Murrrrrelllllll.... purrrrrr.....
"Do you like that food, Twiney?"
Neeeeooooooooo!
"No?"
Neeeeooooooooow!
Memories...of how Tim would sing
a silly song about Twiney--
clean and shiny
clean and shiny
clean and shiny, shiny little girl
clean and shiny, cleaner than Twiney
clean and shiny,
clean and shiny, shiny little girl
Memories...of Twiney running outside all the
time especially at night;
...of how she would come in from the freezing cold--what a sight:
...of how the freezing cold air caused her to lose the hair on her ears!
...of how she would tell us off for going away on vacation without her
Memories...of Twiney the Young Huntress out on
the prowl in the sun:
...of how she would wait, and wait until she would get herself one:
...of birds, chipmunks, squirrels, mice, bugs never had a chance!
...of how she would bring her catch of the day into the house--
Here, Mom, look what I caught!
Memories...of how Twiney loved to play and chase strings or neckties;
...of how she had that playful spirit even up toward the end of her life.
Memories...of how Twiney loved to sleep in the house in the sun;
...of how she loved her cat house and played for hours, and wore out one!
...of how she loved ice cream, yogurt, half and half, Fancy Feast and Pounce:
...of how she loved Spencer, Teddy, Polly but she HATED old Earl
Memories...of how she loved scritches and scratches around her neck and
ears;
...of how she would lay on someone's chest and purr doing dudda-duddas
(knead);
...of her walking through the house in the middle of the night, warbling;
...of Twiney running up the Christmas Tree--it fell over--ornaments smashing
Memories...of naughtiness and
scratching good things like doors
...of hospital bills, heartache and headaches and more
But it was worth it....we
thank God she lived as long as she did:
Memories...of unconditional love that
brought joy without speech
...of Twiney waiting while I prayed: she held her peace
...of the longsuffering she endured and her awesome gentleness
with kids
...of her good loyal
faithfulness, meek
spirit and his wonderful temperance
All nine are a reflection of
Twiney's
Creator:
God's "nature" is reflected in His creation!
Jesus, I
thank You for all the years and memories You gave us with Old Twiney--
What a wonderful life she had--"not bad" for a stray teeny
tiny little stray kitty
