Gone a-Fishin'

Called to the mission field, the preacher emptied his house and packed up his car,
Then he prayed with his wife and his children just outside the front door--
As they finished praying in the Name of Jesus, he was inspired with a great idea:
I need to do one more thing now before we get in this car and leave

He wrote a note that simply read, "Gone Fishin'! Believe and obey The Lord Jesus"
And he placed it on the door so all who walked by would be curious to read it--
Then they got in the car, and he waited, thinking about what just occurred,
And his little daughter spoke up and asked,"Daddy, what's the matter?"

And he sang,

"We're gone now, gone a-fishin'
Fishin' in a faraway land
Gone a'fishin' for men
Gone a'fishin' for women
Gone a'fishin' for children
Trusting Jesus and His mighty hand
   Gone a-fishin'
        Gone a-fishin'..."

Then everyone had tears in their eyes as they realized they were leaving home,
But they all knew deep down they needed to answer God's call to go, to go...

A year passed and the missionary remembered that day in the car back in the States,
He cried and thanked God for the courage of his family, their obedience--their faith--

Praise God

Acts 2
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
[39] For the promise is unto you,
and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

1 Timothy 6
[12] Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

1 Corinthians 13

[13] And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
