Dad why do you insist?

Trapped in tradition and habits of the past
Religious repetitious readings "en masse"
Saying the words but not heeding to obey
The Spirit of God is not invited to stay
Dad why do you insist?
Dad why don't you understand?
Dad why do you resist?
The gentle touch of God's hand
Wondering and hungry but not allowed to change
Dogged by dogma and tripped up in chains
Sin's prisoners always come face-to-face
There's gotta be a way out of this place
Dad why do you insist?
Dad why don't you understand?
Dad why do you resist?
The gentle touch of God's hand
Finally repenting turning to God in worship-filled tears
Filled with the Holy Ghost, Jesus calms all Dad's fears
