Clean and Shining

It's Saturday night before the big Sunday service at church--
Tomorrow, dozens of members and visitors will come to worship--
But tonight in the shadows of the darkened church sanctuary,
There's an unsung hero diligently working whom most never see...
He's an unsung hero, working behind the scenes
He's an unsung hero--
It's usually a thankless job,
but he does it for God!
And he knows He is pleased...
Whistling to the Lord his favorite chorus, the maintenance man vacuums,
then scrubs, then dusts, then sweeps, then mops all the church rooms--
Finally he cleans the fingerprints off of the glass on all the doors;
Then he walks through and does one last check of all of the floors...
He's an unsung hero, working behind the scenes
He's an unsung hero--
It's usually a thankless job,
but he does it for God!
And he knows
He is pleased...
Walking toward the door to leave, he stops and turns around--
"Everything I do, I do for the Lord in whatever state I'm found..."
He says out loud every time, then he turns and says "Praise God!"
Then he shuts and locks the church door with a smile and a nod...
He's an unsung hero, working behind the scenes
He's an unsung hero--
It's usually a thankless job,
but he does it for God!
And he knows
He is pleased...
Clean and shining...
Clean and shining....
