Christmas Eve 2003

High terror alert adds anxiety in the streets
Yet Christmas decorations, lights and music all speak peace
Contrasting emotions of faith and fear
War changes this most wonderful time of the year
People rushing shopping for last minute gifts
Standing in line to buy for all on their lists
Driving like crazy just to wait at the light
Yet something about all this doesn't seem right
The government tells us to go about our business
Act normal they say and we do, more or less
We try to forget we are at war against terror
Yet we remember when we look in the mirror
As we remember
Christ this Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Ask yourself this simple
question: Who's birthday is it, anyway?
