Across the Valley

Across the valley on the hill of the skull
Jesus was willingly crucified for the sins of all
Beaten, whipped, scourged, rejected of men
Even as He endured it all He forgave them

What manner of love is this?
Who is this Christ? this Jesus?
Why did He endure what He did?
Why didn't He just stop it?

The awful cruelty of all men's sin + shame
Was carried + nailed to the cross that day
The heart + actions of men are desperately wicked
Driven by sin is why they did what they did

Only the blood (life) of innocent sacrifice
Can remit the sin in your heart + life
Jesus is Almighty God manifest in the flesh
He gave Himself so that you might live

Across the valley stands a blood-stained cross
It's good to remember what He did + what it cost
