South Dakota

Coming here brings back memories of when we were here many years ago
A different decade, a different family, a different tour
Rolling hills, limestone and granite mountains, and streams
Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain, winding Needles highway
                and everything in between

It was great to come back here and remember
I thank God for my parents who brought us out here
Sitting by the campfire ignites a fire of renewal within
Feeling and sensing the breath of God in the cool mountain wind

I hope and pray that my children and grandchildren come back here too
South Dakota is a place of peace in the midst of so many things to do
In many ways the Black Hills haven't changed at all
You can still see the deer, the elk, the buffalo and hear the birds call

In the middle of the cloudless night walk out
and look up and away from the fire
You'll see the hand of God in the multitude of the Milky Way
                         and so many sparkling stars
