Megan's Loss

Megan’s Loss - An Ultra-Short Short Story

Megan stared at the stain, horrified.

As Megan lowered the flag from half-staff, she remembered her friend and the great times they shared on Base. Tears flowed down Megan’s face onto her neatly pressed uniform as another soldier helped her fold the flag.

A voice whispered, Your loss could be much worse.

Then--she woke up--the flashback overwhelmed her.

Megan had recently entered a contest but lost.

She cried then, remembering her friend.
