Ultra-Short Story #1
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Megan stared at the stain, horrified.
Fluorescent-yellow police CRIME SCENE SCAN DO NOT CROSS
tape glimmered in the afternoon sun around her house.
Blood stained the front steps. Two officers slowly walked by
with CrimeSceneScanner devices.
Megan overheard an officer reporting, “Sir, it looks like a drive-by
shooting—apparently with an antique projectile weapon. We’re
already triangulating a suspect.”
After working two shifts at the hospital, this was too much.
Sam was dead.
Megan fainted.
Ultra-Short Story #2
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Megan stared at the stain, horrified. In tears, she shook her head.
The prosecuting attorney held up a plastic evidence bag and
animatedly pointed to it. “Using CrimeSceneScanner devices,
the police found this bloodstained towel in a neighbor’s waste
container that Megan stashed—“
“Objection! Megan is not a suspect in this case.”
“Sustained.”
“I should be.” There was a collective gasp in the courtroom.
“I was secretly meeting the suspect. I gave him the gun.”

Guidelines:
1. Write two ultra-short stories (no more than 75 words each)
2. They should be completely different in mood, tone, genre
3. Each should BEGIN with this sentence:
