BREAKING NEWS

It was just another work day that September 11th--several years after
that infamous day of 9/11/2001. We were enjoying our morning coffee
and tea when a co-worker interrupted us.

"Did you hear the news? There was a terrorist attack!"

"You're kidding?!?"

No, she wasn't.

We found a television, and sure enough, it was being reported live on
almost every channel.

"BREAKING NEWS" flashed or scrolled across the screen. "Apparent
coordinated terrorist attacks in shopping malls in several major
metropolitan areas in the U.S...."

A reporter franticly spoke from one of the scenes in a large mall in a
suburb north of Chicago. Sirens and people screaming could be heard
and seen behind him. "The mall operators here have realized their worst
fears today with this awful and apparent terrorist--wait--" he paused
and the camera panned briefly to the left, revealing the shouting
police, and rushing first responders. Holding a note in his hand, he
read, "A second wave of suicide attacks, apparently timed with the
original 9/11 attacks, has come to several other locations--"
Suddenly-there-was-an-explosion and the camera went snowy and the
screen went black.

"Oh my God..."

"It's happening, again..."

We switched it to another channel, and watched in horror. Soon a crowd
of upset co-workers surrounded us, asking questions. Many were on cell
phones, checking on their families.

While the mall attacks did strike fear into America, ultimately, they
were just a diversion.

For months and years, the terrorists planned this day. They spied on
the locations they were going to attack, and detailed every move. They
had the support and backing of their friends and allies in Iran and
North Korea. As their comrades set off the bombs in the malls--others
were parking several large trucks packed with explosives at strategic
locations around the Sears Tower. The trucks were disguised as
DHS-RRATVs (Department of Homeland Security Rapid Response
Anti-Terrorist Vehicles).

"BREAKING NEWS" "Several explosions heard near the Sears Tower" "It is
on fire"

Quickly the news, as bad as it was, took a turn for the worst. Soon,
there were cameras on the scene at the Sears Tower; one channel even
showed the DHS-RRATVs pulling up the the building, and minute later,
exploding. It was reminiscent of the Oklahoma City bombing, only
worse, because they hit all sides of the building. It was 9/11/2001
all over again: Police and Fire units on the scene at the Sears tower
helped dozens of hurting people out of the building as fast as they
could.

But this time there was another surprise attack.

From windows in office buildings across the street from the tower, the
terrorists fired RPGs (Rocket-Propelled Grenades) into the building,
causing uncontrollable fires on many floors near the top.
Sharp-shooter Anti-Terrorist Police units returned fire, and killed
several of them, but it was too late.

Suddenly five large ladder fire trucks swerved into the crowds around
the tower with their sirens blaring. People dove out of the way. And,
they too, after about 30 seconds, exploded--apparently loaded-down with
explosives--and shook the remains of the Sears Tower.

It was too much. Within an hour, the fires and the damage brought down
the tower.
