VETERAN'S ELECTION DAY

The race is over, the campaign is done, the votes are all in
Thousands and millions of dollars were raised and spent
Yet, in many ways the election was a great success
Voters waited in long lines, from the east coast to the west

Congratulations to the winners as the losers concede
People smile or shake their heads as the crowds recede
As the lights go out and the cameras are put away
The real work begins as America faces another change

We in the United States always need to remember,
That the freedom we have to vote every November
Was bought with a price:  Thank a Veteran today!
Thank him or her for keeping all of us free and safe

In the end this week it's strange but not too surprising
That Election Day and Veteran's Day are so close together:
                        let freedom ring!
