The First Day

It's the first day at school
or the first day on the job
everyone seems so nice
But the first day is always like walking on the ice
Out here on the ice there are many strange sounds
I don't know (I have no idea!) if I'll fall in or if I'll fall down
Keeping my balance out here is always a challenge
It's so windy and cold I need to keep my mask on
The first day is filled with the risk of the
unknown
Walking on the ice is walking by faith: I have to keep going
As the water rumbles under the ice I just
wonder
What-was-that-sound? as the ice cracks like thunder
The ice tests my perseverance on the first day
As I walk circumspectly I choose to live by faith
In the end the only way I'll "walk on
water" in this life
Is when that first day comes and I gently walk on the ice
With Jesus

Ephesians 5
[15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
[16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
[17] Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the
Lord is.
[18] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with
the Spirit;
[19] Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
[20] Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
[21] Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
