Parents these days

Today I just thank God for my parents
They raised me with good, common sense
They gave me themselves--they gave me so much
Everything they did was simply done in love

They're much older now and now they need my help
I'm happy to give myself back to them--I do it in love
You've heard the old saying over and over again
"Kids these days--whatever are we going to do with them!"

Somehow things have a way of turning back the other way:
When I think "Parents these days", I stop and give thanks...
Parents these days...whatever am I going to do with them?
Decisions, decisions: Dear God, I need your help--

They're not just parents, they're my friends!

Every day and night I remember what Christ lived and said:
"Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Amen.
