I wish you were here this Christmas

Every December I remember all the fun times we had:
Our Christmas song plays at the mall and I smile, just glad--
But part of my heart just longs to have you back here--
I just wish I could have Christmas with you this year

I wish you were here this Christmas, because
I need to be set free from the darkness--
I want to feel safe in your arms, and hug--
I miss you, I just miss you so much

I miss you so much, my dear, at this time of the year:
Depression comes in and brings its ugly friend fear;
The long dark nights do not help to calm my soul--
Years of missing you have taken their heavy toll

I wish you were here this Christmas, because
I need to be set free from the darkness--
I want to feel safe in your arms, and hug--
I miss you, I just miss you so much

Finally one morning around the third day of December,
I picked up my Bible and began to read and remember:
God has not given us a spirit of fear to be bound:
He gives me power, love and a mind that is sound!

Father, You're here with me this Christmas, Jesus--
Thank You for setting me free from the darkness
I want to feel safe in Your arms, and hug--
I love you, Lord, I just love you so much

Thank You Jesus.
