Heritage

For years one solitary life shines bright,
Making a difference every day, every night:
Being a blessing to family and friends--
It was easy to think it would never end

One last look, one last meal to cook--
--what will I do? One last "I love you"
--but now you're gone--One last song,
And one last dance--One last squeeze of the hand,
--it makes me cry--But, one last goodbye...goodbye...

One solitary soul set free from this earth,
Taken by God into His arms of love up above:
I can almost hear the joyful laughter up there--
It's hard to believe that my friend is no longer here

One last look, one last meal to cook--
--what will I do? One last "I love you"
--but now you're gone--One last song,
And one last dance--One last squeeze of the hand,
--it makes me cry--But, one last goodbye...goodbye...

I miss my friend who went home to be with The Lord,
And I promise to honor this heritage of God's love:
The legacy left behind is now my responsibility--
I must keep The Light shining to set men free

One last look, one last meal to cook--
--what will I do? One last "I love you"
--but now you're gone--One last song,
And one last dance--One last squeeze of the hand,
--it makes me cry--But, one last goodbye...goodbye...

As the curtain closes on one solitary life,
fly, eagle, fly! touch the sky...touch the sky...
touch the sky....

Psalm 61
5 For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
