End of an Era

All the planning, preparation and endless meetings and angst;
All the hiring, training, coaching, deploying and giving thanks
Has now come down to a month, a day, and a moment in time;
Marking the end of an era for our department—it’s a crime.

The teams were built and business hummed for years, and years:
We faced the every challenge together and overcame the fears.
We knew our customers well and acted on their suggestions:
Our accomplishments far outweigh any negative perceptions.

It’s so hard to believe that this is it:  it’s the end of era today.
No more tomorrows with my work family, we no longer can say
“Good Morning”, “How’s your kids doing?” or “Have a great weekend!”
It’s all just memories now:  our time together has come to an end.

Now, when I remember everyone in that era and all we went through:
There’s a reason for everything:  it’s the beginning of something new.
