It was a matter of Love

Bleeding, Jesus anguished in the garden that day
No one understood what was coming or what He faced
Already agonizing over the prospect of becoming sin
It was a matter of love, it was a matter of when

Rocking and shaking knowing the cross was so close
Through the bloody sweat in His eyes He beheld a rose
He envisioned the Roman Soldiers crushing his brow
It was a matter of love, it was a matter of how

Jesus foresaw the scourging and hate-raised fists
Soon Judas would show up with his betraying kiss
Jesus interceded in prayer for every lost soul
It was a matter of love, it was a matter of woe

Finally Jesus submitted to the perfect will of God
He whispered, "Not my will but yours be done"

It was a matter of love, it was a matter of when
It was a matter of love, how can you resist Him?
